Trollhunter director Andre Ovredal is back in the giant-monster business. The filmmaker will team with producer Adrian Askarieh to bring Image?s apocalyptic monster comic Enormous to the Web, television and theater.
A THR exclusive reveals the plans straight from New York Comic-Con. Ovredal will oversee the transition of Tim Daniels? story about a woman who rescues lost children after a catastrophic event creates giant monsters that destroy cities and threaten human civilization.
Askarieh and Ovredal plan to create a multimedia event around the title, featuring a ?high-end Web series, a TV show and a feature film? in an effort to tell the whole story. The duo hopes to create something of a merging between Cloverfield and AMC?s popular series The Walking Dead ? wherein the stories of survivors from around the globe contribute to the overarching narrative.
Naturally, this is all in the very early stages of development ? but we?ll keep an ear to the ground for more info on Enormous as it works its way through the Hollywood development maze. In the meantime, let us know what you think of this project. We haven?t read the comics (we will now?), but this sounds like a series with potential.
Here's a trailer for the graphic novel...
